Outcomes and Results
A Vitalize Peel is most appropriate for skin with mild to moderate damage and imperfections including hyperpigmentation, acne and overall inflamed skin. Vitalize Peel is a three-step peel and includes a combination alpha-hydroxy acids, beta-hydroxy acids, resorcinol and retinoic acid.
A Vitalize Peel can be used for all skin types and application of the second step moderates the depth of the application.
SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel uses a combination of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products in order to exfoliate the skin. In addition to accelerated skin exfoliation, the chemical peel will also help foster healthier and more renewed skin, while also providing a more even toned, vibrant complexion. Vitalize peels are recommended for people who suffer from mild or moderate skin ailments; such as fine lines, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, and other imperfections caused by sun exposure or premature aging.

Customized To Your Goals
Considerations
Dr. Craft will discuss and listen to your unique goals and concerns in order to devise a customized peel treatment that is right for you. Although SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel is non-surgical non-invasive applications, there are some considerations prior to committing to a SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel:
- Skin should be free of active skin disease of infection.
- Deep TCA peels may not be recommended for patients with darker skin or a history of pigmentation (hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, keloiding).
- TCA peels may not be recommended for patients with severe acne.
- Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not be considered for TCA peels.
- Depending on the type and intensity of the peel, your face will peel for a few days (5 – 7) and may appear unhealthy or unpleasant. You can work with your enhancement team to schedule a date and time where such peeling will be as convenient as possible.
Procedure & Application
The SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel is a three-step system that includes:
- Prep Solution
- Peeling Solution
- Retinol Solution
First, your skin will then be cleansed and prepped using alcohol, acetone, and/or liquid cleanser as well as the prepping solution to ensure that all of the oil has been removed in order for the SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel to penetrate evenly. Your medical professional will apply the SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel. During application of the peel, some patients report feeling heat on the skin or some minor stinging.
The solution is allowed to stay on the skin for a specified time in order to remove the layers of damaged skin. As your skin begins to dry out, the skin may turn white, a frost-like effect, or the skin may turn darker. Over the course of a few days, the skin will begin to peel off.
Your medical professional will provide precise after-care instructions after the peel treatment has been administered, but there are some general tips to follow. You may be instructed to gently wash your face every night with a mild cleanser before going to bed and apply the retinol solution. You may not wear makeup.
Your skin will also be temporarily drier after the SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel, so you will need to steadily increase the use of moisturizing products after the SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel. Exposure to the sun must be avoided for two to eight weeks after the peel has been applied. If you notice any unusual side effects, or pain or discomfort that seems to worsen over time, please consult Dr. Craft’s patient care team as soon as possible to avoid any unwanted complications.

After Care

- You may be asked to use a facial or sensitive skin cleanser, as well as moisturizing products that are designed for your skin type.
- Your new skin will be highly susceptible to sunburn after the treatment.
- As a result, you should take the appropriate precautions to avoid marked sun exposure for at least 7 days after the chemical peel treatment.
- If you must go out on a sunny day, then using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 is an absolute must.
As there is no downtime with the treatment individuals can return to work right after the procedure. There will be peeling anywhere from four to seven days. In most cases, you will be able to return to your normal skin care regimen and apply makeup after your skin has completely finished peeling. Please consult with your medical professional if you have any doubts or concerns about your skin regimen.
You will notice that your skin has improved in many areas; including improved skin clarity, more even skin color, and the reduction in wrinkles and fine lines. Skin texture will also appear to be smoother than before and you will notice a marked improvement in the overall condition of your skin after treatment.
In some cases, a patient may require several SkinMedica® Vitalize Peels in order to obtain optimal results. The number of treatments required will depend on the extent of the initial skin damage, and can range from three to six total treatments. It is safe to repeat the procedure every two to four weeks if desired. The effectiveness of the treatment can be further improved when a specialized skin care product is used daily in conjunction. All SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel are customized to meet your unique aesthetic goals.
