An Illuminize Peel will accelerate the exfoliation of your skin similar to microdermabrasion and also help provide a more uniform complexion resulting in skin that is renewed and healthier. Illuminize is a two – step peel that contains a blend of acetone, salicylic acid and mandelic acid. This blend is the key to the gentle treatment offered by an Illuminize Peel. The blend of alpha-hydroxy acids with phytic acids and peeling agents traditionally used (salicylic acid) maximizes the rejuvenating effects and decreases irritation commonly caused after applying a chemical peel.

Illuminize performs a mild exfoliation on the top layers of the skin without peeling or drying out the skin. Unlike higher grade chemical peel treatments skin does not peel after the Illuminize Peel treatment. Most patients have experienced no visible or very little peeling.

General Procedure

First, your skin will be cleansed to ensure that all of the oil has been removed in order for the peel to penetrate evenly. Dr. Craft will apply the prepping solution and then the peel. In some cases, this process may involve 2 steps. During application of the peel, some patients report feeling heat on the skin or some minor stinging.

The solution is allowed to stay on the skin for a specified time in order to remove the layers of damaged skin. Your enhancement team will provide precise after-care instructions after the peel treatment has been administered, but there are some general tips to follow. You may be instructed to gently wash your face every night with a mild cleanser before going to bed and apply a healing moisturizer. You may not wear makeup.

Uniform Complexion

Mild & Gentle

Candidates

As Illuminize Peels are a mild and gentle chemical peel treatment, it is recommended for first time patients who have never undergone a chemical treatment before. This will allow them to adjust to chemical peel treatments before deciding if they want or need a peel that is more potent. Illuminize Peels are also recommended for patients who have minor skin perfections, as well as for patients who want to enjoy having more radiant and brighter skin without needing to take time off their daily routine.

The treatment is safe for all skin types as well as individuals with fair and darker skin tones. Not everyone is a candidate for a chemical peel and a consultation with a trained medical professional will determine if the treatment is ideal for you. In most cases, your medical professional will advise you to avoid using/undergoing any products or medical procedures that will increase the sensitivity of your skin. It is important in order to achieve safe and favorable results to be completely honest about your medical condition, prescriptions and products you are currently using or medical procedures you have had recently done.

Results Post Application

You can expect your skin to look fresh with an immediate glow once you leave the clinic. In some cases, patients may notice some mild discoloration or redness, which is not only well tolerated, but can be quickly concealed with some makeup. You should take extra precautions regarding sun exposure after the treatment, as new skin is more susceptible to sunburn after a chemical peel treatment. Most experts recommend avoiding prolonged sun exposure for at least a week after the Illuminize Peel treatment has been administered, and, if you can’t avoid the sun, then you should use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30. All aftercare instructions should be followed in order to achieve the best possible results and to avoid any complications. If you notice any unusual side effects, or pain or discomfort that seems to worsen over time, please consult Dr. Craft’s patient care team as soon as possible to avoid any unwanted complications.

Additional Treatments

In order to enjoy optimal results, you should wait 2 weeks before going back to the clinic or office for a second Illuminize Peel treatment. This regimen can be repeated as needed until the desired results have been obtained. Moreover, the results are not only cumulative, but most patients will enjoy optimal benefits after a series of 3 or more Illuminize Peel treatments.

Your medical specialist may recommend that you use a facial cleaner or a sensitive skin cleanser after you have completed the initial Illuminize Peel procedure. He or she may also recommend that you use a specialized moisturizer that is designed for your unique skin type or condition. A tinted or untinted sunscreen to protect your skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays may also be prescribed.

As for the treatment products that you use on a routine basis, you will be able to return to your regular skin care regimen just 4 or 5 days after the treatment has been administered. If you have any doubts or concerns about the skincare products that you are currently using please do not hesitate to consult with your medical professional.
