Enhance Overall Facial Appearance Without Surgery. Learn More About Liquid Facelift

Recent technological advances have enabled the stunning effects of a facelift without surgery.

A liquid facelift is a non-surgical treatment that enhances the overall appearance of the face by lifting sagging skin, smoothing wrinkles and ‘lifting’ or contouring the face. Recent technological advances have enabled the stunning effects of a facelift without surgery.

Liquid Facelift

A liquid facelift offers a non-invasive non-surgical treatment for those patients who want to enhance their face, improve facial contouring and eliminate wrinkles but are not ready for more invasive surgical treatments.

A liquid face lift uses safe, nontoxic injectable materials to create a silky and youthful appearance. Dr. Craft will work with you to create a non-surgical plan to use the injectable most appropriate for you to enrich and improve the overall appearance of the face.

Dermal Fillers

Liquid Facelifts inject dermal fillers into the skin to create a smoother appearance. There are several different brands of dermal fillers that may be used during a liquid facelift, however, there are only two dermal fillers used in liquid facelifts including:
Botox

Botox is a dermal filler that is injected into the skin to enhance the appearance of the skin. Botox is made from neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. In high doses, botulinum toxin is actually very poisonous and is responsible for botulism, a severe and life threatening disease. However, Botox used during a liquid facelift is a very small amount used safely through injections. Botox works by interrupting signals from nerve cells to muscles, leaving muscles without instructions to move or contract effectively paralyzing the muscles and making them immoveable and the muscles stiffer. The stiffness of the muscles creates a smoothed youthful appearance of the skin.

Hyaluronic acid fillers
Hyaluronic acid filler is a dermal filler that is injected into the skin to reduce and smooth wrinkles and lines. Hyaluronic acid natural occurs in human bodies and is found in the fluid surrounding the eyes, in cartilage and joints and in skin tissue. Hyaluronic acid is also injected into damaged joints to increase padding in the joints. Synthetic hyaluronic acid can be injected into the face. When injected the acid acts like an expanded pillow supporting facial skin and tissues that have lost plumpness or smoothness because of aging of environmental damage. When injected the acid also makes skin look fresh and bright by encouraging water to the surface of the face.

Procedure

A liquid facelift is a non-invasive non-surgical procedure that is generally completed within an hour. Liquid facelifts can include anywhere between seven and twenty small injections. Dr. Craft and your enhancement team will work with you to identify the problem areas to be treated with the liquid facelift. If necessary, you may be injected with lidocaine to freeze the areas that will be injected. Dr. Craft will then inject the dermal fillers into the appropriate areas.

You will notice results immediately. There may be some minor swelling and bruising but after the procedure you can return to your everyday activities. After the injections, you will minimize exposure of the treated area to the sun for 24 hours. Depending on the areas treated and your specific skin condition, Dr. Craft will explain after care to you following the procedure.

Outcomes

Dr. Craft and your enhancement team will work with you to identify problem areas and create an enhancement plan. Dr. Craft may choose to use Botox or Hyaluronic acid as dermal fillers in your liquid facelift. A liquid facelift can provide many of the same benefits and outcomes of a traditional facelift including:

  • Smoothing out mild to moderate wrinkles including laugh lines, crow’s feet, marionette wrinkles, vertical lip lines, worry lines.
  • Add volume to areas of the face that have become less plump or saggy.
  • Correcting facial asymmetry.
  • Enhancing the overall appearance of your face.

Considerations

Although a liquid facelift is a non-invasive procedure, there are some considerations before choosing a liquid facelift including:

  • A liquid facelift should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components.
  • A liquid facelift should not be used on areas that are irritated or infected.
  • A liquid facelift should not be used in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • A liquid facelift should not be used in people under 18.

The most common side effects for both of the dermal fillers include minor swelling, bruising or discomfort to the treated area. There have also been a few reported cases of blindness and nerve paralysis. In extremely rare cases, a blood vessel can be accidentally rupture leading to necrosis (tissue death), embolism or infraction.

Botox has been demonstrated to cause mild side effects such as headaches. The use of Botox in very rare cases can cause spatial disorientation, focal facial paralysis, dyspena and anaphylaxis.

Hyaluronic acid fillers have been demonstrated to cause minor side effects such as minor swelling, bruising or discomfort to the treated area. Hyaluronic acid fillers can also cause small bumps to appear under the skin. These effects usually diminish after seven days post-procedure. In rare cases, bluish skin discoloration known as the Tyndall effect may occur.

Before the liquid face lift you will discuss your goals and medical history with Dr. Craft and your enhancement team. It is important that during this time you discuss any chin or neck surgery you’ve had, any cosmetic enhancements you’ve had done to your face, neck or chin.
